A trial regarding a soccer riot in Port Said that killed 74 people in early 2012 ended with 21 people sentenced to death, 45 people sentenced to prison terms and 28 people acquitted. Thousands of fans who had gathered to hear the verdicts of the police officers (most of whom were acquitted) proceeded to set fire to the soccer federation headquarters and a police club in Cairo.
